Friend & Fundraiser for the "Let's Double the Number of Women & Girls Riding Bikes" Campaign - help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 by the end of May! We've raised $3,500! We have $6,500 more to go!

We see the daunting news everyday. Our community (and the nation at large) are both faced with a daunting but completely reversable health challenge from sedentary diseases.  We can make a difference - but we need the right tools and techniques. In the spirit of empowerment Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal and Women On Bikes SoCal are delighted to host this easy morning bike tour of scenic Long Beach Bike-Friendliness, enlightening talk from change agents and taste makers, and a delicious (and healthy!) meal at the SIP Lounge at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Long Beach.

Our adventure will start at Bikestation at 223 E. 1st St. (At the Transit Mall and Promenade Park). Join us as we learn from our stylish Vice Mayor on bringing the power of beautiful to the active living conversation, why bold "placemaking" architecture has been key to the Bikestation vision by President & COO Andréa White-Kjoss, what Hollywood understands oh-too-well about our engaging our short attention spans in this age of uber-business by our own "Health by Bike" columnist and Emmy award winning T.V. executive Kerri Zane, and the allure and diplomacy of design excellence by interior designer and Live Long Beach Magazine columnist Joen Garnica.

You will also experience hands on Long Beach's blooming fashion forward bike culture with visits to talented entrepreneurs at The Academy boutique in the East Village, Yellow 108 sustainable design in Alamitos Beach, The Bicycle Stand in Bluff Park, and the brand new "parklet" at "Lola's" on 4th Street's Retro Row.

Our Meal at SIP Lounge

Executive Chef Michael Poompan of SIP has created a healthy and delicious menu with options for everyone: Self-serve sandwiches served with Greek salad, choices include: roasted eggplant and chickpea, sun dried tomatoes & goat cheese spread, BLTA, or roast beef with blue cheese, balsamic red onions and arugula.

Lunch includes a glass of house wine or draft beer, or coffee, tea or soda.
