Our goal here at Women On Bikes SoCal is to help double the number of women and girls actively riding bikes in Southern California over the next five years. Can you help us? In return you'll become a member of one of the most dynamic, fun, blossoming new groups of bike friendly people in Southern California and you'll receive our bi-monthly emailers and invitations and discounts to special events!Your support helps make it possible for us to create bike-friendly events, host female + family friendly rides that move at the right pace for all levels of ridership, increase the availability of low cost/no cost/time efficient bicycle safety classes for women and children, and create this website! The first step of this process is to increase the number of well trained female bicycle safety instructors available in Southern California. We are now raising $10,000 to quadruple the number of well trained female bicycle instructors ready and able to serve the communities in our first area of focus: East L.A., South L.A., the greater South Bay and Long Beach. We have seventeen amazing candidates. These women will not only receive the best in bicycle safety instructor training, they will also participate in an advocacy seminar led by one of the nation's top bike advocates Charlie Gandy, and Women On Bikes SoCal will work with the 4 women selected for Long Beach to create innovative, time efficient, and fun bicycle safety training pilot programs for the City of Long Beach.
