Re: Women On Bikes SoCal Hosts A “Mid Century Modern Architectural Tour by Bike” with Cara Mullio and Jennifer M. Volland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday April 28th from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm Women On Bikes SoCal will host an  architectural tour by some of Long Beach’s mid-century treasures for $25.00 per person, $15.00 for students. The tour will include homes in the mid-century rich Alamitos Heights and Park Estates neighborhoods of Long Beach and sections of the campus at California State University Long Beach designed by Edward Killingsworth.

Mid-century homes will be viewed by Richard Neutra, John Lautner, Paul Tay, Edward Killingsworth, and more. The interior of one of the Richard Neutra houses in the Park Estates neighborhood will be viewed as well! Our tour hosts are the local authors of “Long Beach: The Unexpected Metropolis” and mid century modern design specialists Cara Mullio and Jennifer M. Volland. This tour is in support of the Women On Bikes SoCal “Let’s Double the Number of Women and Girls Riding Bikes” campaign. Tickets must be purchased by Friday April 27th online. Tour limited to 20 participants! Hurry to purchase your tickets and find more details here: http://www.womenonbikessocal.org/mid-century-modern-tour-by-bik/.

About Women On Bikes SoCal

Concerned with the rising tide of sedentary diseases, ever increasing traffic congestion, and those in need of safe and healthy transportation options the goal of Women On Bikes SoCal is to double the number of women and girls actively riding bikes in the Southern California region over the next five years. An artful mix of bicycle advocacy + engaging fashion forward story telling, the organization recognizes the power of style and fun to connect and empower. An initiative of Bikeable Communities, Women On Bikes SoCal is presently raising money via their “Let’s Double the Women” campaign to create 12 new highly trained female bicycle safety instructors for underserved Southern Californian communities, and to create new innovative, time efficient and cost effective bicycle safety training programs for the public. Find out more here: http://www.womenonbikessocal.org/doublethewomen/.

Limited media passes are available for this tour on a first come first serve basis. Please contact Melissa Balmer at (562) 221-9672 or email at wobsocal@gmail.com to arrange.
